A bit of fanart for the movie Yellow Submarine. I took the Beatles during my favorite moments instead of just all as Beatles. So we've got Regular John, Old Paul, Young Ringo, and Sgt. Pepper George (from right to left). Then the others are (right to left again) Old Fred, Jeremy, the Lord Mayor, and the Chief Blue Meanie.
This thing took about... I'd say about 5 or so hours, on and off through the week. And even though I don't think there's a single part in the movie where they're in an actual sea/ocean/water at all, I decided to put it in water. I call it a new adventure for our heroes.
A download is a must to see what the characters actually look like. Sorry about that. I initially worked with a 10000px wide canvas (probably about 5000px high) and scaled it down to 5000px wide. So it's still pretty huge, but things could be worse my friends.
And yes, I drew it all, without tracing a single thing. I'm learning that while my own style is crap, I can compensate by mimicking any other style to a t.
I'm gonna toss this into the contest. See how it goes.
The characters of Yellow Submarine are not my property, but the art is all mine.
Aw man I love the style you used for this. It looks amazing
And your style's not crap >: I like it a lot. It's realistic and cartoony at the same time
I'm trying desperately to develop my own style right now :3 I'm not too consistent and I don't like when people always think I'm drawing Disney characters, lol.
Yellow Submarine has a great animation style. It's obviously low-tech-seeming, 'cos it was done in the 60s, and sometimes it's just like "Wow... no human actually walks like that" but it's a really interesting style. And best part about it is there's absolutely NO SHADING! So I could be super lazy!
Style is hard to do... Your own at least... I think you've got a distinct style. I can easily pick it out. Something about the coloring and shading that does it for me. And the faces are always very distinct.
